Dover is an elegant country town within close proximity to Boston. It has a decidedly rural feel with open fields and forests throughout. There are grand older estates and farms as well as lovely newer neighborhoods. Homes are set on at least an acre of land.
Dover's downtown is small with limited commerce, and residents head to neighboring towns to provide a full range of shopping.
Dover's educational system is considered one of the best in the state and is rated so through various publications in Massachusetts. The elementary schools are excellent and the Dover Sherborn Regional middle and secondary school are considered superior overall.
Recreation and outdoor play is a big part of living in Dover. The Trustees of Reservations conserve vast forests abutting Dover town parks. Nature can also be enjoyed through horeseback riding, tennis, bicycling and skating.
